Use the following chart as a guide.
SETTING RECOMMENDED USE
HI eTo start food cooking.
eTo bring liquid to a boil.
6-8 eTo hold a boil.
eTo quickly brown or sear food.
5 eTo maintain a slow boil.
eTo fry poultry or meat.
eTo make pudding, sauce, or gravy.
2-4 To stew or steam food.
To simmer food.
LO To keep food warm.
To help shorten your cooking time, use the least
amount of liquid possible.
Preheat your pots and pans only when
recommended and for the shortest time possible.
Start your food on a higher heat setting, then turn
the control to a lower setting to finish cooking.
