Hotplate
The hotplate has one large wok burner, one large
burner, two medium burners and one small burner.
One model has two oval burners and the other has a
dual zone ceramic plate.
All hotplates will accommodate pans between
100mm (4) and 200mm (9) diameter.
The wok and large burner will accommodate pans up
to 260mm (10) diameter. All pans should be placed
centrally over the burners.
DUAL CERAMIC PLATE (model EG1000EX only):
Warning: DO NOT use the hob if it is cracked. To
avoid the risk of electric shock, switch off the cooker
at the main isolating switch and contact your nearest
Service Office (see back page).
Heating only occurs within the zone marked on the
hob. The heating zone has a safety cut out which
prevents the ceramic glass from overheating. After
several minutes on full power without a pan, the cut
out will switch the heating element on and off to
avoid any damage to the ceramic glass.
The ceramic plate control is designed to provide
variable heat control of either the full oval of the
plate or just the circular section. Turning the control
knob clockwise will switch on the full oval and
turning the control knob anti-clockwise will switch on
just the circular zone.
It is essential that you use saucepans that are
suitable for a ceramic hob.
ALWAYS USE:
Good quality pans with smooth flat heavy bases.
Saucepans manufactured from aluminium or
stainless steel.
Correct size pans - the base of the pan must cover
the heating zone completely.
NEVER USE:
Pans with thin, distorted or uneven bases - these
would extend cooking times, waste electricity and
cause damaging local hot spots on the ceramic
surface.
Pans with ridged or recessed bases.
Pans with damaged or rough bases which could
scratch the ceramic surface.
Glass or ceramic glass utensils.
In order to keep your ceramic plate in good
condition, follow these simple guidelines:
DO NOT...
- cook directly on the ceramic surface without a
cooking utensil, as this will result in damage to the
surface of the hob.
- use the ceramic as a work surface as damage may
occur to the smooth surface of the hob.
- drag or slide utensils on the ceramic surface, as
this will cause scratches.
- place anything between the utensil base and the
ceramic surface, such as asbestos mats or wok
stands.
- leave any utensils, food or combustible items on
the ceramic when it is not in use.
ALWAYS...
- ensure the bottom of the pan is clean and dry. Dirt
or moisture between pan and the ceramic can cau-
se pitting of the ceramic surface.
- take extra care when cooking foods with high sugar
content such as jam, as spillage will cause damage
to the surface of the ceramic.
- clean spills immediately.
Make sure the pans do not overlap the edges of
the hob while it is being used.
OVAL BURNERS (model EG1000GX only):
The two oval burners at the front of the hotplate can
be turned through 90° to suit the shape of the
cookware being used. The burners can be used
individually or together.
Example for:
rectangular dishes
and when using the
griddle plate.
Example for:
when using
oval dishes
(ie. fish pans).
